Teen Mountain Adventure
AN ADVENTURE DESIGNED FOR TEENAGERS
At 14, 15, 16 or 17, summer holidays should not feel like another week at school.
That is why International Language Camps has completely reimagined its programme for teenagers.
Teen Mountain Adventure is an international summer camp in Megève, in the heart of the French Alps, combining mountain adventure, real-life language immersion, international friendships and personal growth.
In this new program, teenagers do not spend their mornings sitting in a classroom.
They live the language English / French through real experiences throughout the day: organising a picnic, leading a team assignment, asking for information, managing a budget, finding their way, solving a problem, presenting a project or simply talking with new friends from around the world.
The goal?
For them to return home with extraordinary memories, of course.
But also more independent, more confident and more comfortable communicating with others.
Goals and Spirit
of the Fun Camp
That they leave with extraordinary memories, of course.
But also more independent, more confident, and more at ease communicating with others.

Summer Camp
– Summer Camp Megève-
MORE THAN A LANGUAGE CAMP
Teen Mountain Adventure is built around one simple idea:
We also learn by living, trying, making decisions — and sometimes by getting things wrong.
Every day gives teenagers real situations in which they need to think, collaborate and gradually take on more responsibility.
They are encouraged to:Ils sont encouragés à :
- take initiative;
- make choices;
- find their own solutions;
- communicate in English and French;
- work as a team;
- handle real responsibilities;
- speak in front of others;
- step outside their comfort zone;
- discover other cultures;
- learn to adapt.
Our counsellors are there to guide, supervise and ensure everyone’s safety.
They give the teens the freedom to work independently and find their own way.
Because growing up also means learning how to find solutions for yourself.
ONLY 8 TEENAGERS
IN A GROUP.
A small group that completely changes the experience
Teen Mountain Adventure is intentionally limited to a maximum of 8 teenagers per week.
This small group creates a completely different dynamic and gives every teenager an active role in the adventure.
Everyone has the opportunity to participate, suggest ideas, speak up, take on a leadership role within the team and build genuine relationships with the other participants.
The programme has its own dedicated teenage supervision team, with specialised counsellors for a maximum of eight teenagers.
This exceptional ratio combines two essential elements:
more independence for teenagers + attentive professional supervision.
LIVE THE LANGUAGE
Language moves beyond the classroom
In Teen Mountain Adventure, English and French become languages teenagers use, not simply languages they study.
There are no compulsory traditional morning language lessons.
Instead, teenagers take part in language challenges, missions, projects, debates, discussions, communication games and real-life situations.
- Ordering something in another language.
- Asking for directions.
- Introducing their team.
- Interviewing someone.
- Explaining a strategy.
- Working together to solve a problem with another teenager who speaks a different language.
- Speaking in front of the group.
- Expressing and defending an opinion.
Every situation becomes an opportunity to communicate.
The objective is not to recreate academic language teaching, but to develop the ease, spontaneity and confidence teenagers need to actually dare to speak a foreign language in real life.
Teenagers who would like to complement this immersion with more academic learning can also choose additional intensive language lessons as an option.
LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE
Every adventure develops a skill
An activity is never just an activity.
During Teen Mountain Adventure, experiences are designed to place teenagers in situations that help them grow.
An orienteering challenge
→ Learn to make decisions and guide a team.
A mission in Megève, Chamonix or Annecy
→ Communicate, organise, take initiative and achieve a shared objective.
Preparing lunch as a group
→ Manage responsibilities, choices and sometimes a budget.
A team challenge
→ Listen, negotiate and find a solution together.
An outdoor activity
→ Manage emotions and overcome apprehension.
A night in the mountains
→ Become more independent, support one another and step outside everyday comfort zones.
Play is therefore not only about having fun.
It becomes a powerful tool for learning, personal growth and leadership.
MISSIONS,
NOT JUST EXCURSIONS
Teen Mountain Adventure turns the Alps into a real-life learning playground.
Depending on the week and conditions, the programme may include:
Mountain Team Challenge
Mountain hiking, orienteering, geocaching, nature challenges and team missions.
Teenagers learn to observe, organise themselves, divide responsibilities among the team members in order to achieve the team’s goal.
Chamonix or Annecy Adventure
Discover Chamonix or Annecy through various tasks given to them as photos challenges, interaction in French / English and team objectives
A completely different way to experience some of the most iconic destinations in the Alps.
Megève Village Challenge
Escape games, young reporter roles, cultural rallies and challenges throughout the village.
Teenagers become active participants in discovering Megève rather than simply being visitors.
Outdoor & Water Adventures
Canyoning, horse riding, lake activities, paddleboarding, beach games, hiking and other outdoor experiences bring variety and adventure to the week.
Exact activities are adapted according to weather conditions and the organisation of each session.
THE SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE:
A MOUNTAIN BIVOUAC OR OVERNIGHT MOUNTAIN CABIN
A night they will remember for a long time
On Friday, the adventure moves to another level.
Teenagers leave their usual environment behind to experience a genuine overnight adventure in the mountains, either camping outdoors or staying in a mountain cabin, accompanied by the Teen Mountain Adventure team and a qualified mountain professional.
- Pack their backpack.
- Hike together.
- Navigate.
- Set up a camp.
- Pitch a tent.
- Organize meals.
- Learn basic outdoor survival techniques.
- Spend the evening surrounded by nature.
- Watch the stars.
- And then sleep in the mountains.
The overnight mountain experience represents everything we want Teen Mountain Adventure to develop:
independence, teamwork, responsibility, confidence and pushing beyond personal limits.
It is a simple yet powerful experience — and often very different from anything teenagers experience in their everyday lives.
The organisation of the bivouac or mountain cabin experience remains subject to weather and mountain safety conditions.
MORE INDEPENDENCE.
MORE RESPONSIBILITY.
Giving teenagers more independence does not mean leaving them on their own.
Quite the opposite.
Teen Mountain Adventure has been designed to allow teenagers to gradually take on more responsibility within a clearly defined environment supervised by experienced professionals.
For example, teenagers may participate in:
- organising certain meals;
- preparing an activity;
- managing equipment;
- allocating roles within a team;
- making certain group decisions;
- managing a defined budget;
- navigation and orientation;
- problem solving;
- presenting a group project;
- creating a challenge for their counsellors.
The adults remain responsible for safety and the overall framework.
But whenever the situation allows, teenagers are given the space they need to try, think and find a solution themselves.
SKILLS THAT LAST LONG AFTER SUMMER
Teen Mountain Adventure aims to develop a range of real-life skills.
Throughout the stay, the teenagers develop their independence, communication skills, team spirit, and their ability to take initiative, solve problems, adapt, and exercise leadership — all while learning to better communicate with young people from other cultures.
At the end of their experience, every teenager leaves with their own Personal Growth Passport.
This is not a school report and there are no grades.
Instead, it helps teenagers recognize the skills and personal qualities they have used and developed throughout their stay:
Independence
Communication
Teamwork
Leadership
Initiative
Problem Solving
Adaptability
Confidence
Responsibility
Intercultural Awareness
Language Communication
Embrace differences
The aim is to encourage them to reflect on four simple questions:
How did I feel upon arrive at the camp?
What did I experience during the program?
What did I learn about myself?
How can I apply in the future what I learned in the camp?
What is my next challenge?
A GENUINE INTERNATIONAL GROUP EXPERIENCE
Teen Mountain Adventure has its own identity, while teenagers remain fully connected to the wider international life of International Language Camps.
They meet young people from many different nationalities, share selected evening activities and also join the camp’s major weekend excursions with participants from other programmes.
For residential teenagers, breakfast and dinner are served at our high end hotel in Megève.
Lunch itself becomes part of the experience: depending on the day, teenagers take part in organising their picnic and sharing responsibilities, always under the supervision of the team.
EVENINGS
The adventure continues after the day’s activities
Depending on the weekly programme, teenagers may enjoy evening activities designed specifically for their age group:
- spa and pool time;
- films in the original language;
- team games;
- challenges;
- lakeside barbecues;
- international evenings;
- stargazing;
- shared activities with other camp participants;
- an evening organised by the teenagers themselves.
Some evenings are exclusively for the Teen Mountain Adventure group, while others bring them together with the wider ILC community.

Accommodation & Dining
At International Language Camps, we believe that the quality of accommodation is essential to the well-being of our participants. For this reason, we exclusively offer premium lodging for our summer camps.
This year, campers will stay at Hôtel Le Vieux Moulin, a high-end hotel located in Megève. We are proud to provide this exceptional standard of accommodation, a rarity for summer camps.
Participants with different native languages in cozy Alpine-style rooms, shared between 2 to 3 participants. Each room features light wood decor, creating a warm, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere that ensures an unforgettable experience.
Supervision & Safety
We understand that your child’s safety and well-being are the top priorities when they are away from home. At International Language Camps, many members of our team have been with us for years, bringing extensive experience in working with children. From the director to teachers and activity leaders, every team member is qualified, bilingual, and committed to providing the best care.
Our supervision ratio of one adult for per five campers is double the legal requirement set by the French government. This allows us to give personalized attention to each child, addressing their individual needs.
The camp director personally knows every camper and is available 24/7 to address any concerns you may have. For activities requiring specialized supervision (such as mountaineering or climbing), our trained leaders accompany children alongside certified professionals to ensure safety at all times.
Our motivated and experienced team not only ensures the well-being of the participants but also serves as role models, fostering a supportive and inspiring environment for the children.

Still hesitating…
We’re here to answer all your questions
WHO IS TEEN MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE FOR?
This program is particularly suitable to teenagers age 14 to 17 who:
- enjoy adventure and outdoor activities;
- want to meet teenagers from around the world;
- want to use English or French in real-life situations;
- are looking for more independence than in a traditional summer camp;
- are ready to play an active role in group life;
- want to become more independent;
- are willing to gradually step outside their comfort zone.
They do not need to be highly experienced athletes.
What matters most is being willing to participate, discover and try.
FOR PARENTS: INDEPENDENCE DOES NOT MEAN LESS SUPERVISION
We know that teenagers age 14–17 need more freedom.
We also know that parents need to feel confident that this freedom exists within a safe and professionally supervised environment.
That balance is precisely what Teen Mountain Adventure has been designed to achieve.
Maximum 8 teenagers.
Specialised counsellors.
Daily supervision and support.
Qualified professionals for activities requiring specialist instruction.
A structured international environment.
We give teenagers more opportunities to make decisions.
We never give them responsibility when it comes to their safety.
What age is Teen Mountain Adventure for?
The programme is exclusively designed for teenagers age 14 to 17.
This age range allows us to offer an experience specifically adapted to their growing independence, interests and need for greater freedom.
Where does the camp take place?
Teen Mountain Adventure takes place in Megève, in the French Alps, close to Mont Blanc and less than one hour from Geneva.
Activities and excursions also give teenagers the opportunity to discover different destinations in Haute-Savoie and throughout the Alpine region.
How many teenagers take part each week?
The programme is limited to a maximum of 8 teenagers per week.
This deliberately small capacity encourages strong group cohesion, active participation and more individualised support.
Are there English or French lessons?
Teen Mountain Adventure focuses on real-life language immersion rather than traditional classroom lessons.
English and French are used throughout activities, missions, projects and international interactions.
Additional language lessons can be selected as an option for families wishing to complement this immersion.
Does my teenager already need to speak English or French well?
No.
The objective is not to reach a particular academic level, but to develop the confidence to communicate and gradually become more comfortable using a new language.
Having teenagers from different nationalities naturally encourages everyone to find ways to understand and communicate with one another.
Is the bivouac or mountain cabin experience supervised?
Yes.
The bivouac or mountain hut experience is organised with the Teen Mountain Adventure team and a qualified mountain professional.
It always remains subject to weather and safety conditions.
How is this different from a traditional language camp?
Teen Mountain Adventure is not based on the traditional model of classroom lessons followed by activities.
Instead, language forms part of a wider experience combining:
adventure + independence + leadership + international friendships + responsibility + real communication.
Teenagers learn by doing, collaborating and solving real-life situations together.
